Feast

A beautifully plated dish photographed in natural window light on a worn wooden table

Feast is the food photography thread. Restaurant editorial, cookbook work, ingredient-focused still life, brand campaigns for food producers. The visual standard throughout is the same: the food has to look like food someone would actually want to eat. Not food that has been styled within an inch of its life, not food under studio strobes. Food on a real surface in real light.

Natural light is the default wherever the kitchen allows it. For shoots where window light isn't possible, the approach stays the same — soft, directional, from one side. The result should look like the chef plated it and someone photographed it immediately, not like it sat under lights for an hour.
